Year 5 Tag Rugby

On Thursday 23rd April, the year 5 girls went to a tag rugby tournament where we played against other local year 5 and 6 teams. The event was organised by the Harlequins and we were lucky enough to have training by Dominic, one of the rugby coaches, in our PE lessons in school. The teams we were up against were from Fircroft and Sellincourt. Hillbrook year 5’s girls gave an outstanding performance as we showed good teamwork, commitment and courage on the playing field. To make this even more special, we met a rugby world cup winner; Kate Wilson. She even signed our t shirts! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and slept well from all the running around that afternoon!

This was a unbelievable experience, the year 5 boys competed in the Harlequins tag rugby competition. We had 3 teams, who all did very well by winning the majority of their games and scoring lots of tries. Furthermore we faced other schools and had Hillbrook vs Hillbrook at one point! Our coach who taught us rugby was very proud of the skills we showed in this competition. We played fair and even, we didn’t argue with referee and let our heads go down when the other team scored. It was simply the best thing we could of wished for.
