Year 5 Science Museum Visit
Year 5 visited the Science Museum to complete our learning on Earth and Space. From rockets to satellites, probes to landers, we saw a gallery full of out-of-this world objects. We explored how humans have sent spacecraft to other planets, walked on the Moon and peered into the heart of our galaxy and beyond. We saw a full-sized replica of 'Eagle' - the lander that took astronauts, Armstrong and Aldrin, to the Moon in 1969. Then discovered how we are able to live in space - to breathe, eat, drink and go to the toilet.
Afterwards, with real images of distant galaxies, the sun and Mars, taken by Hubble and the world's most powerful telescopes, we watched the IMAX movie 'Hidden Universe' that took us on a mesmerising tour of deep space. We travelled the terrain of Mars, were immersed in spectacular galaxies billions of years old and witnessed the birth of stars. All round it was a very successful trip.
